Wild Anatomies is a group exhibition exploring connections between the human body and the world of plants through the work of 7 artists working across the disciplines of painting, ceramics, textiles, printmaking, collage, and film. Wild Anatomies reimagines the internal body as a microcosmic universe, where cells, ribs, muscles, and arteries, find connection with the patterns and rhythms of plants and organisms of the organic world that we all inhabit and share.
Here, arteries split and divide into veins to become roots, glands become nodules, the ovary mimics the seedpod, while threaded stitches and shapes in the clay represent cells or globules. By exploring parallels between the infinite universe within our own anatomy and other living organisms, we discover common threads that bind us together so intricately, both to the natural world, and to the cycles of life, death, and renewal.
As part of the exhibition, we will be hosting two exciting workshops…
On Saturday 8th June, for children, age 6+, ‘Scissor Drawing and Nature Prints’ – a wonderful workshop led by artist Lynn Hatzius, www.lynnhatzius.com, one of the exhibiting artists in Wild Anatomies. This workshop will explore symmetry and patterns in human and plant anatomy through simple paper cutting and printmaking techniques. Designed for all children over the age of 6 as proficiency with scissors is required.
The workshop takes part within the Wild Anatomies Exhibition, so the children with have a chance to get inspiration from the artwork around them as well as from foraged natural objects brought in by Lynn. All materials will be provided as well as a healthy snack and a drink. Parents are required to stay for the session, but it is only the children taking part that need to have a ticket.

On Saturday 15th June, we are excited to host, ‘Botanical Infusions and Herbal Folklore’ a workshop for adults and teens, where you can learn how to craft and blend your own botanical infusions while discovering the herbal folklore and traditional uses along the way, delivered by Jess Barratt-Bishop, founder and owner of Herbal Hedgerow, UK based independent herbal tea business: https://herbalhedgerow.co.uk.
Taking place within the Wild Anatomies Exhibition, connecting the wonders of herbs with the surrounding artwork, all ingredients and materials will be provided including herbal tea refreshments and a botanical notebook for those all-important recipes! A wonderful way to spend a few hours with friends or to make new ones, take away new skills and inspiration for blending, growing and harvesting.
