The London Wildlife Festival is a new and exciting urban event celebrating the conservation and culture of Britain’s natural world. Curated by London Wildlife Trust and David Lindo, The Urban Birder, the two-day event will be held on the 10th-11th August 2019 at Europe’s largest urban wetlands, Walthamstow Wetlands, located just a 15 minutes’ tube journey from central London.

The London Wildlife Festival will be the capital’s largest ever event dedicated entirely to the extraordinary nature and wildlife of the UK. At a time when so much of the environment around us is under threat, the London Wildlife Festival hopes to bring the very importance of the natural world in the modern day to the forefront of conversation and thought. The London Wildlife Festival will unite specialists in the field with visitors alike to celebrate the importance of wildlife and nature. Taking place in the heart of Waltham Forest, the festival will be a unique opportunity to marry the urban and rural, to connect city dwellers and wildlife enthusiasts, and to inspire and intrigue all those that walk through the gates.

Whether you are an avid naturalist or just curious to discover more, the London Wildlife Festival will be an opportunity to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of the big city and get back in touch with nature. Not only will the festival take place in the surroundings of Walthamstow Wetlands with its 211 hectares of space and 10 stunning reservoirs, it will also bring together various keynote speakers, celebrated personalities as well as high profile academics, citizen scientists and conservation experts to create a hub of activity and excitement. Visitors can learn about the issues facing the natural world and explore first-hand what nature and wildlife great and small dwells on London’s doorstep with a series of guided walks. Visitors can also meet like-minded individuals and connect with like-minded brands over the two-day festival which organisers hope to make an annual affair.

The London Wildlife Festival will include events and workshops, talks and debates. There will be yoga, mindfulness and wellbeing workshops as well as an opportunity to learn new crafts such as wildlife photography, birdwatching, pottery, floristry, landscape drawing and creative writing. There will be cutting-edge talks on marine life, activism, conservation, living plastic-free and ways to make individual changes to collectively change the world around you. There will be art exhibitions, live music and literary events all inspired by nature and there will also be educational multi-media exhibitions and film screenings taking place across the site. Visitors can dip in and out of talks, shop at the various stalls, take part in activities and enjoy the sights and sounds of London’s largest wetland nature reserve.

We all need nature in our lives and now is a time more important than ever to rally together to protect what we believe in. Buy your ticket to the London Wildlife Festival and be a part of the change that you want to see in the world.
