About the exhibition:
Wild Anatomies is a group exhibition curated by BHVU Gallery at 228 Chingford Mount, exploring connections between the human body and the world of plants through the work of 7 artists working across the disciplines of painting, ceramics, textiles, printmaking, collage, and film. Wild Anatomies reimagines the internal body as a microcosmic universe, where cells, ribs, muscles, and arteries, find connection with the patterns and rhythms of plants and organisms of the organic world that we all inhabit and share.
Here, arteries split and divide into veins to become roots, glands become nodules, the ovary mimics the seedpod, while threaded stitches and shapes in the clay represent cells or globules. By exploring parallels between the infinite universe within our own anatomy and other living organisms, we discover common threads that bind us together so intricately, both to the natural world, and to the cycles of life, death, and renewal.
The contributing artists are : Rebecca Baillie, Charlotte Lindsay, Jenni Allen, Temsüyanger Longkumer, Lynn Hatzius, Mildred rambaud, Eline van den Boogaard
