Get started on making your own clothes in this very comprehensive 3 day workshop.
Dates are Mondays 20, 27 September and 4 October. The sessions are roughly 5 hours each day.
Start by learning to read a commercial dressmaking pattern, adjusting the pattern to your own unique measurements, and then learn to sew up your garment. I am passiionate about fit and about helping with bodies that aren’t fashion standard feel great in clothes. This includes making clothes fit your beautiful trans, larger, or disabled body. Of course you are welcome if you are a size 10 too.
We will talk about dart manipulation, bust adjustments, neckline and sleeve adjustments etc, klenghtening garments, etc. We usually all work from the same pattern but if you want to make something else because you, for example, don’t wear dresses, I am very flexible. The course is suitable for all people rehgardless of how you identify although as I am sure you are aware there are 1000s more poatterns for dresses and skirts than for gender neutral or masculine clothes. But together we will make you something you love!
The class has a maximum of 4 people in it, but more usually just 2, so you get tons of one to one support, and you will learn a lot! This is a really comnprehensive introduction to learning to make your own clothes. It is a small class and nicely paced so you will be able to ask all the questions and really delve quite deep into it all. Most of my past students now regulary make their own clothes!
I will talk to you about patterns and fabric when the class is booked so you will have plenty of time to buy all you need.
