Activist and guitarist Marcus (Gibbon) met musician and campaigner Holly (Goldfinch) whilst running protest singing workshops together in lockdown (on Zoom). Together they set up Concerts Don’t Cost The Earth to raise awareness and money for evironmental organisations and to move audiences to get involved. They spent 16 months a part between 2022 and 2024 whilst Marcus was in prison for hanging a banner saying Just Stop Oil over the M25. They are still fighting the Home Office against his deportation. However, they have since become well known locally as a duo who use their music to bring fun and humour into this otherwise difficult topic! Their gigs contain a lively mixture of songs from across the globe including hits by the Australian band Formidable Vegetable, Pink Floyd, Dolly Parton, Astrud Gilberto, Nina Simone and of course some original numbers too. Held in a gallery space and in collaboration with the exhibition Symbioses: Living Together which will be available to look at before and after the gig.
