We are a bunch of people who get together for a strum and a sing every Wednesday. It’s not a class, we just pick songs out of a big song-book ( on https://ukulelewednesdays.com/songbook/ ) and play/sing together.

We’re in the back room at the Bell from January the 3rd ( unless it’s been booked when we’re out in the main bit of the pub ). Please bring that uke you’ve been given for Christmas, or just turn up for a sing.

Reber Dosky (1975, Dohuk/Kurdistan). Living in The Netherlands since 1998, Reber Dosky studied film direction at the Netherlands Film Academy. He completed his studies with The Call (2013), about the impact of war and displacement on the relation between a father and a son. The Call won several awards on international film festivals. The short documentary the Sniper of Kobani(2015) brought the international breakthrough of Reber Dosky and was awarded at multiple festivals.

At Last Frame Club we are bringing you his 2 latest films short + feature that have travelled to festivals all around the world.

Radio Kobani| The Netherlands| 69 mins |Reber Dosky

Out of the smoke and dust of battle came Radio Kobanî, the brainchild of 20-year-old Dilovan. A young Kurdish woman, Dilovan took it upon herself to document the final days of IS control, and the stories of refugees returning to their flattened homes. Despite her harrowing experiences, Dilovan’s positivity is resilient. Her belief is vindicated by the strength of Kobanî’s citizens and their capacity to collaborate in the face of destruction.

This screening of the 1917 film “The Battle of the Ancre” with live accompaniment by the Waltham Forest Youth Orchestra is the special finale to our 2018 World War One Day. It is the official film of the British Army’s autumn campaign on the Somme and contains haunting images of trench warfare, mud, troops advancing into no man’s land, use of horses and the first views of the ‘Tank’. Waltham Forest Youth Orchestra performed Laura Rossi’s magnificent score for “The Battle of the Somme” last year. Laura also composed the music for this film and she and Toby Haggith,Imperial War Museum, will introduce it.
