BACKGROUND; We live in interesting times where everyone is ‘talking’ especially online but few are quality connecting offline.
Often times exchanges online can be fraught with unnecessary tension especially as witnessed post BREXIT,Berlin, immigration etc
Such can be the nature of some online community engagement over such hot button issues ,Yet in real life people may present quite differently as simply ladies and gentlemen dealing with ladies and gentlemen
In a test drive to try and make it easier for the E11 and wider community etc to connect the names ,faces and people perhaps familiar on the streets and on the web etc ;FORA is facilitating a short walkabout around scenic Hollow Ponds.
You never know who you may meet and be pleasantly surprised by. Folks you’ve interacted with online , neighbours you never knew you had and so on.
Appearances are deceptive as we all know and the stranger on the street today could be the friendly face you see tomorrow
For in our richness of diversity we are united by humanity
The idea is simple. To get folks to assemble for a quick round of meet and greet, set off at your own pace and then ideally perhaps reconvene if so minded at the Lakeside Diner , The Log Cabin,
Hitchcock Hotel etc ,or invite folks you may know or have just met and bonded with etc to continue at leisure over a cup of tea in your homes,at your own discretion.
Tad uncomfortable ?
Please don’t be.
There’s no pressure and after all everyone you now know were strangers at one time including your families 🙂
London often has this unfounded reputation of being a cold unfriendly place . So please join us in helping to change that narrative
BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE
SO PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SHARE ON AND OFFLINE EVEN IF YOU CAN’T MAKE IT . EVERY LITTLE HELPS
NB:Appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear etc recommended but feel free to wear what works for you and for your dog if you happen to bring one .
Fancy dressing up ? Why not ? , cassocks , nun’s habits, Alfred Hitchcock lookalikes, Carmen ,Pearly Queens, Miranda , Dame Edna pirates and corsairs of Hollow Ponds ..it’s all good fun .
A beverage and snack for personal consumption maybe useful
Family/Buggy friendly save for one or two minor detours possibly at latter
Push bikers yes
Dogs on a leash very welcome .
Take only photographs and memories ; leave only footprints
(Optionally, please feel free to carry a small carrier bag or similar and pick up rubbish as we walk along. They can then simply be deposited by the public bins near car park so Open Spaces/Epping Forest can collect as per usual .
You’d be amazed at how much can be collected in short spell
See you then
